Copenhagen, 30th June – Agrobiomics, a Danish BioAg company pioneering resilient agriculture, is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded up to €7.5 million blended financing by the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator program. The funding will allow Agrobiomics to bring its nature-derived biomolecules technology to the market and help farmers mitigate the devastating impact of climate change on crop yields.

This support from the European Commission comes as Agrobiomics prepares to scale-up and commercialize its first two products for soybean and tomato, with future expansion to cereals, fruits, and vegetables across salinity- and drought-prone regions in Europe and beyond.

From “snake oil” to robust and proven product

Biostimulants have long been met with skepticism due to inconsistent performance and limited field validation—often earning the industry the nickname of “snake oil”. Agrobiomics is changing that narrative.

Its nature-derived biomolecule, isolated from Streptomyces bacteria, works by priming plant stress responses, increasing yield under drought and salinity. Greenhouse and field trials have shown consistent improvements in crop resilience, making it a serious contender to facilitate the transition into a more sustainable agriculture.

Ananda Scherner, CEO, said:

”We are honoured to be awarded this grant, which recognizes the potential and impact of our work. This recognition not only fuels our mission but also opens new opportunities to deepen our partnerships and explore new avenues to bring Agrobiomics solution to the market. We are excited for what’s ahead as this achievement is a testament to the passion and commitment of our incredible team.”

Mikael Bechsgaard, Chairman of BoD, said:

"The EIC-A grant is a testimony to the founders and employees of Agrobiomics that the work with the nature-derived biomolecules has a lot of promise. We can now further accelerate efforts."

Unlocking Agriculture that is sustainable, reliable, and profitable

With global agriculture under pressure from increasingly frequent droughts, rising temperatures, and salinity, the need for scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective technologies has never been greater. According to FAO and IPCC reports, up to 30% of current global crop production is at risk annually due to climate-induced stresses. Solutions like Agrobiomics’ biomolecule offers a promising sustainable alternative to resource-intensive solutions such as irrigation, synthetic chemicals, or expensive genetic modification.

Agrobiomics is uniquely positioned to deliver these solutions at low cost, high robustness, and with regulatory readiness. Due to its low application rates, the biomolecule is easy to integrate across the entire value chain, enabling the sustainable transition in agriculture.

About EIC Accelerator

The European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator is a funding program under the EU Horizon Europe that supports game-changing innovations that could create new markets or disrupt existing ones in Europe and worldwide. A unique feature of the EIC is that it provides funding as a combination of grants and equity investments. The equity investments will be made through the EIC Fund, EIC’s dedicated investment arm which attracts other investors to increase the overall investment and allows for the scale-up of start-ups and SME.

At the March 2025 cutoff, 959 full applications were submitted - 40 were selected for funding. More info on the results of the last EIC Accelerator round can be found at:
